OUR FATHER WHOSE SON CAME TO SAVE THOSE WHO BELIEVED

John chapter 10 verses 40 - 42 records that when Jesusˋ presence in Jerusalem began to escalate the political tension in the city to a breaking point, He widthdrew back to the east side of the Jordan river in the area where John the Baptist had been administering the baptism of repentance and had announced that Jesus was the awaited lamb of God.

40 And He went away again beyond the Jordan to the place where John was baptizing at first, and there He stayed. 41 Then many came to Him and said, “John performed no sign, but all the things that John spoke about this Man were true.” 42 And many believed in Him there.

Out in the wilderness beyond the Jordan river, away from the hectic pace of Jerusalem, people remembered John the Baptist and compared him to Jesus and they realised that John had full-throatedly endorsed Jesus and that Jesusˋ miraculous powers confirmed what John had said about Him and also attested to His being from the heavenly realm.

In this remote place of consideration and reflection, many people came to believe in Jesus.

Amen
