OUR FATHER REFINES HIS PEOPLE IN THE FIRE

Zachariah chapter 3 verses 1 - 5 records a vision that Zachariah the prophet had of the court of heaven where Joshua the high priest was standing accused by Satan for having unclean clothing. The Angel of the Lord, not rebuking Satan directly, said, ˆˋThe Lord ( who had chosen Jerusalem and who was referred to as the Lord of Hosts ) rebuke you, Satanˋ and the reason given for this rebuke was that Joshua the priest was a brand plucked from the fire. The priest had been subjected to great heat to carry the insignia of the Lord and as such, was going to have his filthy garment taken from him and be given rich new robes.

1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?”

3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the Angel.

4 Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him.” And to him He said, “See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes.”

5 And I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head, and they put the clothes on him. And the Angel of the Lord stood by.

The prophet Zacharia added that a clean turban should be put on Joshuaˋs head and they put a turban on his head along with the new clean robes and the Angel of the Lord oversaw the exchange. 

The clean new turban may represent a renewed mind that a believer works towards in order for the patterns of thought that they had before they were born-again would stop recurring.
