OUR LORD WHO BINDS OUR WOUNDS

Most people over the course of our lives, incur emotional, mental and physical injuries.

Whereas physical injuries can leave us with physical disabilities and limitations, emotional and mental wounds can afflict us with psychological incapacities and constraints.

The Lord our God demonstrated His power to heal people of their physical ailments in multiple ways. The blind were given their sight and the lame were able to walk. The deaf were able to hear and the mute were able to talk.

These physical interventions were, in and of themselves, great miracles and changed the lives of those who were healed but these signs pointed to the ability of God to heal internal wounds that occur in the emotional structures of our minds.

In Psalm 147 verse 3, the Psalmist attributes to the Lord the capacity to heal emotional damage.

He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

This attribution is expounded upon in Isaiah 61 verse 1 - 2 which says;

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted; to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn;

The Lord Jesus quoted this scripture in the synagogue at Nazareth  ( Luke 4 verse 18 ) which describes, among  the primary things He was sent to do,  the task of  binding up the brokenhearted and the comforting of those who mourned which constitute the healing of our  emotional injuries and emotional states.

The healings bring us to a wholeness and peace that passeth all understanding.

Bless our Lord who restores our souls.

Amen.
