OUR FATHER WHOSE COMMANDS WE KEEP WHEN WE KNOW HIM

1 John chapter 2 verse 3 ( x 1 verse 13) says this;

We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. 

The apostle John continues on to says this in verses 4 - 6;

Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

When we are saved by believing that Jesus died  on the cross for us and is able to save us, the process of getting to know the One who saved us begins. 

We grow in the knowledge of Him as we learn His word and as we walk in the spirit with Him and we find we are increasingly are able to keep God's commandments as our spirits gain strength and our flesh loses dominance over us.

Our knowledge of God has been given to us by the Lord Jesus as 1 John chapter 5 verse 20 says;

 We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
